Self-acceptance is a challenge for everyone but especially women in our stage of life. I think inner beauty can be seen and experienced as Karen says. Claiming one’s power and owning what we have, the depth of our experience and wisdom, something around this. So good, Leanne!
Right on time, LK. In DC this week and every photo I’ve seen of us as a group is met with how this, why that, when what? Who is this person, is that how I look, was this always the way, ugh, ugh, ugh.
I am finally blessed to have a Dr. who urges me to the love the body I’m in, and yet finding the capacity to do that is swamped by 56 years of messages to the contrary.
Really well written and thoughtful article, Leanne. This topic is true for men too, y’know, although we sometimes get to be described with nice adjectives like “distinguished”.
I know men worry about how they look, too, though the judgment -- and barriers -- are much higher for women, I think. But I know the struggle is real, for all of us.
Well the most important thing is that you feel young and have 60+ years of experience not to do the stupid stuff.

Thanks so much, Gayle. You are a role model for me in claiming your power, for sure.

Hang in there -- the fact that you're in DC for these pictures AT ALL should tell you everything you need to know!

Sometimes.😀

Oh, I completely agree. How many people think that Harrison Ford or Clint Eastwood “let himself go”?
Ha, so true. Though in the last Indiana Jones movie, Ford got a big boost from digitization, I'll say that!
Such a shared struggle! I think you look great, Leanne <3
Thanks, Kate. I appreciate you.
You look great! Very similar to how you looked in HS. Good genes.
Aw, Mark, you're so kind to say so, though it's tough for me to see that. Sometimes I FEEL like I did in HS, that's for sure!
